A very pleasant hotel, in the high st, and part of of a Victorian Terrace.
One can park at the back, which gets morning sunshine and sit in a courtyard area. I sat indoors and had a pot of tea. It was excellent.
It's decorated in a Victorian style, with only a few mishaps here and there. The overall effect is charming.
The staff are excellent and I felt very at ease and looked after.
I would have liked to explore the rooms, but this isn't quite the done thing! -

This is a great warren of a place, nicely decorated, and quite busy and buzzy. Lots of families, and little nooks to sit quietly and read, and well as the main bar. TV in main bar only, on silent with subtitles. The Ruddles was excellent. The food is basic fare, burgers, steak, fish and chips, etc. There is a steak night on Tue, and curry night on Thurs. We had a curry and beer for £6.59 each. Came with rice, poppadums, chutney and naan bread. Nothing to write home about, but a good tasty meal none the less. They do Lavazza coffee too.

I fine this a great pub with good priced food and drink the only problem it can get very busy at times . They do have great discount menus on some of the days and they do a afternoon special.
